Join Grammy winning singer, songwriter, poet and author Janis Ian for a special live interview for Art of the Song—Creativity Radio followed by a full concert performance.
Janis won her Grammy in 1975 for "At Seventeen" and has spent an entire career tackling subjects like race relations, domestic violence and homosexuality in both song and print. Janis is celebrating the paperback release of her autobiography Society's Child and the double-CD career retrospective The Essential Janis Ian. Art of the Song—Creativity Radio is a one hour syndicated radio program heard weekly on over 225 public and community stations nationwide produced in the heart of Downtown Albuquerque. Art of the Song—Creativity Radio encourages people to discover their own creative potential through the use of story, music, and discussion. The program is designed to entertain while inspiring listeners to explore and express their own creativity. Support for Art of the Song comes from the City of Albuquerque's Economic Development Department and Berklee College of Music.
Live events are comprised of two sets. The first is a interview with AOTS host John Dillon and Vivian Nesbitt, including questions about the artist's background, creative process and why music and creative expression are important in today's world. The second set is a full length concert performance. The entire event is recorded and edited for future broadcast on the shows 225+ affiliate network. Recent Live event guests have included John McEuen, Harry Manx, Cris Williamson, & Trout Fishing in America. The program has been airing since 2005 nationwide and has featured guests like Arlo Guthrie, Kathy Mattea, Judy Collins, and over 200 other luminaries.
Concert Tickets: $25 advance, $30 day of show.
