Since their pure DIY beginnings in 1981, Osaka, Japan's Shonen Knife have been building a faithful following of music enthusiasts and the alternative rock elite, their relentless journey securing the band's place as one of the pioneer ambassadors of Japanese rock music and culture on the international stage.
The band features original members (and sisters) Naoko on Vocals and Guitar, Atsuko on Bass and Vocals and their newest member, Risa, on Drums and Vocals.
Their latest album, Our Best Place, is a new collection of songs which beckons the sounds of some of the earlier Shonen Knife albums.
Destruction and melody, acid wit and bruising vocals—this is the Pack A.D. Singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller have made a sound so gigantic, so fierce and raw and empowering, that it's easy to forget there are just two people behind this brilliant, carefully constructed havoc. Shredding and pounding their way through every song, the Pack A.D. swallows you whole inside their fearless Franken-blend of heavy psych-pop/garage-rock.
