For all the trailblazing musical acts who've emerged from Los Angeles, very few embody the city's wildly eclectic spirit more wholeheartedly than Los Lobos. Over the last five decades, the East L.A.-bred band has made an indelible mark on music history by exploring an enormous diversity of genres—rock-and-roll and R&B, surf music and soul, mariachi and música norteña, punk rock and country—and building a boldly unpredictable sound all their own.
On their new album Native Sons, the multi-Grammy Award-winners map their musical DNA by covering a kaleidoscopic selection of songs from their homeland, ultimately creating a crucial snapshot of L.A.'s musical heritage. Tracks on Native Sons include "The World is a Ghetto" (War), "Jamaica Say You Will" (Jackson Browne) and "Flat Top Joint" (The Blasters).
Michael Hearne's destiny has been tangled in wire and wood since he first laid his hands on a guitar at the age of seven. With a natural ear for harmony and an aptitude for picking, it wasn't long before a young Michael Hearne was a fixture at parties and local events in his childhood hometown of Dallas. By the age of sixteen he had honed his skills on the guitar and, without a doubt in his mind about his destiny, he hit the road as a touring musician.
Michael's career over the next few decades would take him across the southwest and beyond. Calling the mountains of northern New Mexico home for many years, Michael shared his talents as a singer, songwriter, and picker in bars, listening rooms and dance halls throughout the region.
Mariachi Calor is one of New Mexico’s premier mariachi groups. Formed in 2002, the group consists of current and former members of Taos High School's "Mariachi el Tigre" and Las Vegas group "Mariachi Paisano Del Valle." Directed by Darren Lee Cordova, Mariachi Calor has quickly grown to be one of the most popular mariachis in New Mexico. Currently the group travels alongside legendary musician Darren Cordova and has preformed countless shows throughout the southwest.
Singer, songwriter, comedian and actor Carlos Medina was born in Las Vegas, NM. Carlos performs throughout the Southwest with his acoustic trio, 4-piece conjunto and Mariachi.
