We at AMP are avid readers! When we aren't at a show, we are curled up with a good book. So we are very excited to be partnering with the new owners of Bookworks to help bring a little more literary action to Albuquerque. We are kicking things off in January with a reading from Pulitzer Prize winning author Michael Cunningham (The Hours) reading and signing his new book Day, as well as a reading & concert at Bookworks from Santa Fe-based author/singer-songwriter David Berkeley on January 20. Stay tuned for more literary action in 2024. Consider visiting Bookworks for your holiday gift shopping, or just some fun book browsing.
Two ticket types are available:
Individual ticket ($33): Includes general admission for one person, a hardcover of Day, and a donation to the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation.
Bring a Friend ($38): Includes general admission for two people, one hardcover of Day (to share with a friend/partner/etc.), and a donation to the Albuquerque Public Library Foundation.
Michael Cunningham is a novelist, screenwriter, and educator. His novel The Hours received the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1999. He has taught at Columbia University and Brooklyn College. He is currently a professor in the practice at Yale University.
Day is a "quietly stunning" (Ocean Vuong) exploration of love and loss, the struggles and limitations of family life—and how we all must learn to live together and apart.
"Along with George Eliot, Michael Cunningham belongs in that rare group of novelists who hold the world close, with apparently infinite respect, compassion, and tenderness, all while describing the world and its inhabitants unsparingly."
—Tony Kushner
