"I am excited to announce that this year is the 20th Anniversary of the release Mercy Now, a record that changed my life. We are celebrating with a vinyl re-release and a tour. I’m not really one to look back, but reflecting on these ten songs feels more like standing still long enough to take stock, and appreciating the grace that brought them into existence. These shows will be a continuation of a long conversation with kindred souls, like you, who understand the alchemy of song. Kindred souls who know a sad song doesn’t make the darkness deeper; it gives it a shape, a name, shines the light on it, and brings forth hope. 'Yeah, we all could use a little mercy now…'” —Mary Gauthier

Mercy Now helped establish Gauthier as one of the preeminent voices in Americana music at the time. The same year the record was released, Gauthier was named the New Artist of the Year by the Americana Music Association. Mercy Now was also recognized among the Top 10 Albums of 2005 by outlets like the LA Times, New York Times, No Depression and Billboard. The record’s title track and enduring favorite “I Drink” has been covered by artists including Boy George, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Lynn Moffatt over the years.

Gauthier released her most recent new album, Dark Enough to See the Stars, in 2022. In 2024, she also reissued her 1999 debut, Drag Queens In Limousines, in honor of its 25th anniversary. She published a nonfiction book on the art of songwriting, Saved By A Song, in 2021.

Jaimee Harris turned 30 during the pandemic. It's a milestone that is a rite of passage even during normal times. But for this Texas-born singer-songwriter, it came in the midst of one of the strangest and most tumultuous periods in American history. When the world stopped during lockdown, Harris, like many others, found herself gazing back into the past, ruminating on the nature of her hometown and family origins, and reckoning with their imprint on her. The term "nostalgia" derives from the Greek words nostos (return) and algos (pain), and if Harris's Boomerang Town can be regarded as a nostalgic album, it is only nostalgic in the sense that the longing for home is a desire to return to the past and heal old wounds.

Harris's sophomore effort, Boomerang Town marks a bold step forward for this country-folk-leaning singer-songwriter. It is an arresting, ambitious song-cycle that explores the generational arc of family, the stranglehold of addiction, and the fragile ties that bind us together as Americans.
