Devon Allman has been immersed in the world of blues and rock his entire life. As the son of the legendary Gregg Allman, Devon grew up surrounded by the rich musical legacy of the Allman Brothers Band, a group that played a pivotal role in shaping the Southern rock and blues sound.

Devon Allman Blues Summit is a powerhouse gathering of blues legends that promises to electrify the stage. With Devon Allman at the helm, this summit brings together an all-star lineup that includes the Jimmy Hall, Larry McCray, and Sierra Green.

One of the stars of this musical gathering is Jimmy Hall, who some may know as lead singer and harmonica player of southern-rock group Wet Willie or for his collaborations with Jeff Beck. Hall puts his stamp on the record almost immediately, singing and blowing up a storm on its de facto theme song, “Blues Is A Feelin’.” The track is a big, brawny, propulsively rhythmic celebration delivered by eight musicians who share an obvious passion for the blues. Hall handles vocal duties again on the gospel-tinged “Peace To The World” (with Robert Randolph adding his trademark pedal steel guitar) and on a loose and spirited, hand-clapping, foot-stomping version of the Willie Dixon classic “Wang Dang Doodle.”

Adding to the lineup’s historical legacy is Larry McCray. McCray is a legendary blues guitarist and singer renowned for his soulful sound and emotive guitar work. Born in Magnolia, Arkansas, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, McCray has carved out a prominent place in the blues music scene with his powerful voice and deft guitar playing. Emerging onto the scene in the late 1980s, he quickly gained attention for his blend of contemporary blues, rock, and soul influences.  On “Hands And Knees,” McCray takes his turn at the mic and on lead guitar, his chiming licks and smooth tone showing an obvious debt to B.B. King. “Getting’ Greasy With It” is another McCray composition served up well by Allman and his cohorts. The funky quasi-instrumental is smothered in horns and has Memphis written all over it – no surprise since it features the celebrated Memphis Horns, guests on three songs in all.

Rounding out the Devon Allman Blues Summit is the powerhouse vocalist from New Orleans Sierra Green of Sierra Green and The Giants. Sierra is known for her dynamic range and commanding stage presence, Green has made a name for herself as a versatile and passionate performer. Born and raised in New Orleans, Sierra Green draws inspiration from the rich musical heritage of her hometown, infusing her performances with a modern twist on traditional soul sounds. Her voice echoes the spirit of greats like Aretha Franklin and Etta James, yet she seamlessly incorporates her own unique flair, creating a fresh and exhilarating musical experience.

As the next generation of Allman music, Devon continues to innovate and captivate audiences with his skillful guitar playing and compelling songwriting. His artistic contributions are proof of his impact on the blues rock as both a deeply personal and universally resonant genre. Through his performances and recordings, Devon Allman ensures that the music that has always been so important to his family continues to thrive and inspire new audiences.
