Live Movie Concert with Alcoléa et Cie
Add to Cal
Tickets cost $10, $15 and $20 (including all service charges). Children under 18 are free (but still need to have a free ticket!) They are also available from the KiMo Box Office at 505-228-9857.
Catch a screening of "Hugo" at the Guild, with an introduction and Q&A with Alcoléa et Cie founder Jean-François Alcoléa, on Monday, April 14 or Tuesday, April 15.
"Right in the Eye" is an immersive concert/cinematic experience comprised of twelve short films by Georges Méliès, a master of early cinema and a wizard of special effects. Many are familiar with his dazzling and pioneering film work from the hit 2011 Martin Scorsese movie "Hugo."
On stage, during the screening, the Alcoléa et Cie trio of musicians plays some fifty different instruments, including rare, unique, and hand-built ones. Acclaimed French composer and musician Jean-François Alcoléa has written the original score, which unfolds in perfect symbiosis with the creative genius of Méliès. Poetic, playful, and filled with surprise and delight, Right in the Eye is a great show for children, adults, and everyone in between who loves the sweet madness of early cinema and exciting contemporary music. Following successful runs and 500 performances in Europe and in North America, the French artist and composer Jean-François Alcoléa continues its epic journey all over the world.
The Guild Cinema brought this project to Albuquerque last year for two sold-out shows, which helped inspire this visit and performance at the KiMo. Thanks for introducing us Kief!
This concert will culminate a week-long residency from Alcoléa et Cie sponsored by the City of Albuquerque Arts & Culture Department. The residency will include several school visits and movie making projects that are going to be a ton of fun!
